Sofronio Vasquez Biography:Sofronio is a singer competing on season 26 of The Voice. He previously competed on a similar competition singing show in the Philippines called Tawag ng Tanghalan in 2019, where he finished in third place.

Sofronio Vasquez Early Life

Sofronio grew up in the Philippines with virtually nothing, including no bed or indoor plumbing. Despite his situation, he describes his upbringing as happy, because music was always there to bring his family joy. Sofronio fondly remembers singing with his dad and considers him his coach. Sofronio never thought he was as musically inclined as his friends and family, so instead he embarked on a career in dentistry. While studying for his dental boards in the Philippines, he decided to give music a chance. Shortly after this decision, Sofronio was met with tragedy when his dad suddenly passed away. Now, with a new sense of motivation to make his late father proud, Sofronio has taken a leap of faith and moved to America to pursue music more seriously. Since moving, he’s competed at the famed Apollo Theater, his cover of “Nothing’s Gonna Change My Love for You” has topped 1 million views on TikTok and a performance of “That’s What Friends Are For” has surpassed 9.5 million views on Facebook. Sofronio is ready to take the Voice stage!

Sofronio Vasquez  Career

Before deciding to pursue music, Sofronio studying to become a dentist. He made the decision to immigrate to the United States in the middle of studying for his dental boards in the Philippines.

Sofronio has worked as a dental assistant for a doctor in Utica since January 2024, according to his LinkedIn. He received his MD in dentistry from Misamis University in 2015 and is doing his clinical internship/externship at Mohawk Valley Health System.

Vasquez grew up in the Philippines, and while his family didn’t have much money when he was a child, he always had music. He credits his father with instilling in him a love of singing, and even calls his father his first Coach. But music wasn’t Vasquez’s first career pursuit. He studied to be a dentist and began practicing, but the tragic loss of her father inspired him to keep pursuing his dream of singing on the world’s stages, and he began to pursue music again in tribute to his father. That pursuit led to several viral cover songs on social media, and eventually, to the stage of The Voice.
